Brandon and I hit the beach saturday afternoon. Once on the beach we were greeted with flat dirty water, seaweed, and bad driving. We ran into san martian when he was making his way off the beach, he reported one bull red and a few whiting.

Right off the bat throwing peeled shrimp we start hooking into small whiting and dinner sized plate rays. After about half an hour my casted rod with cut whiting goes off, and I reel in this 46" red, tieing my personal best.

Report Image

A few minutes after releaseing my red, brandon would answer back with a fat 41" red

Report Image

I would then get another bull red going 43"

Report Image

Right before sunset brandon pick up another 43" bull red

Report Image

After dark my casted rod went slack and I find this little guy on there, his fate was the same as the others...into the cooler

Report Image

We called it a day around 8:00pm and headed off the beach

Getting a late start saturday we hit the beach around noon. Driving and seaweed were the same as the day before, but the water was much cleaner.

Report Image

Once again right off the back we began to nail whiting and rays, brandon also pulls in a nice 30" black drum while I reel in a whiting and a ray.

Report Image

Brandon and I both deploy live whiting. About 30 minutes later while reeling in my bait rod I see my super 6 with the live whiting 250 yards out, double over and line started to scream off the reel. After a good fight I get the stubborn fish in close and a nice dorsal pops up and brandon ropes my biggest sand bar. She went 7'2'' and had a massive girth.

Hooked on the out side corner of the mouth, mono didn't have a nick on it.

The release

Report Image

Irig up a fresh chunk of ray and drop it the same distance. Right before sunset, the chunk of ray gets hammered. After about 15-20 minutes, brandon goes out and ropes another fat 7'2'' female sand bar.

I re rig with another fresh chunk of ray, and begin to wait. Shortly after dark my casted rod with fresh whiting makes a short run and slacks off, I reel up another bull red this one only going 41".

Report Image

With the surf picking up and classes the next day we decide to reel up the rest of the rods and head off the beach.
