Gabe, Seth, and I headed down the beach Friday afternoon to be
greeted by clear skies and calming conditions. There was much debris on the
beach and driving throughout the high-banks was tedious and extremely rough.
Camps were already setup all in the lower 20's and we decided not to let
the red tide scare us and head south. We get down to nice looking water with
birs offshore about a 1/2 mile. Debri started getting so bad we actually
turned back a few miles. The recent storms have sent an incredible amount
of wood and garbage from the upper coast of Texas and Louisiana and is washing
up heavy past Big Shell. We finally come to what we decide on being an
appearingly productive location (notice the debris washed up on the beach).

We begin castnetting Mullet and sendthem out hoping for
some bait.. of the Jack variety. We end up hooking into large Spanish Mackerel
as the sun was going down.

The night was slow with a couple runs. I end up being cut off
on a large bait by what we suspect tobe debri rolling in. The next
morning Seth gets hooked up and the fight is on with a stubborn fish.

The culprit.. a Stingray ringing in close to 100# that was released.

Shortly after Gabe yaks out a bait and soon after Seth gets
hooked up and lands a 4' Blacktip that was tagged and released.

During the multitude of runs, I am out playing with the smaller
variety hooking and landing Mackerel, large Skipjack, and Redfish (such as
this double landed).

Here the Reds model with the new Breakaway LDX rod.

By sunset Gabe and I have a couple large baits out a piece waiting
for the night-bite.

Gabe strikes first with a fat 5' on the nose Blacktip that was tagged and
released.

I eventually get a run on my Super-6 rigged with a large bait
indended for a giant. The shark comes in relatively quick and ends up being
a 6' Blacktip mean and hungry... another 10lb bait picked up by a pesty Blacktip.
Gabe tagged the shark and she was released taking off in search of other
monster baits to devour put out by anglers.

The rest of the nite Gabe and I had a large bait out. Around
midnight with the moon directly overhead the Ozinator rigged with a large
primo bait gets smoked. After a blazing run the reel never let up until the
fish dropped the bait before getting a chance to hit him with a hookset.
Oh well, I'll get him soon.
The next morning Gabe wakes us up displaying a very sexy Jack
Crevalle he picked up during a frenzy having more than one hooked on at once.
This guy was NOT released and will be deployed later in the week ;)

Shortly after we had to head out back to town. It was nice to
fish again withGabe and Seth had a blast hooking into action. Overall
it was another fun trip and glad fall has finally hit the beach. The bait
and predators are in close and in our location, you would have never guessed
that 2 weeks prior there was a massive fish kill from Red Tide.
Good luck and see you on the sand.
