A special thanks to Nigel and Fishing in Fukuoka Japan for allowing to share his Report with us.

OK OK here we go.

We went on SOLA with Wayne, Hiromi, Ide, Yumi(my wife) and I. The fish that we were targeting was Yazu, small yellow tails that are famous for boiling-surface-frenzy action.

What a view of the city.

Report Image

A great view of the surrounding islands.

Report Image

I love this particular island.

Our captain took us around Genkijima island for about 1 hour with no schools of fish showing up. At about 8 am we saw our first group slashing at small minnows vigorously.

Report Image

The water is just full of spanish mackerel but noooooo yazu.

We got about 3 to take our metal jigs but decided to try somewhere else to see if we could find a large school of yazu. Well the bad news is we didn't see them. But I asked the captain instead could we head to the harbor and try for suzuki. (seabass) I said hey lets go to Jon's spot where he caught 5 fish last time out on SOLA. This turned out to be good decision. The captain got the first one of the day on his vivra lure. (his #1 lure).

FISH ON!

I casted T.D.SALT VIBRATION R 28 grams out as usual to the bottom of the drop off and would retrieve the lure quickly. As the captain was bringing in his nice 70cm bass I got the hit of a lifetime!!!!

Report Image

Wow!

Report Image

Wow x2!!

I knew it was big by the way it dove quickly back to the bottom of the ocean floor. I took it easy not putting to much pressure on the fish knowing that if I tried to muscle it in I would loose this big boy. After about a 5 min fight I finally saw the beast. It was HUGEEEEEE The captain got his net on it and yes it was big to all of our amazement.

Report Image

OH my god, we can see it now!

Report Image

Here it is for everyone to drool over.

Report Image

It's big on the tape.

Report Image

92 CM!

WOW eh? There are anglers here in Japan that fish for years never being able to get a fish of this size. I think I'm very lucky! Oh this is the biggest fish of the year for SOLA this year. I wonder if I get a free trip????

Haaaaaaa haaaaaaaaaa I wish.

Overall I got an other 2 more bass but that was it for the group of us.

It was a great thing to see and this fish. At the end of the day it was able to swim an other day to bring us some more of it's kids for the future.

Bye-Bye!
